Welcome to Our Community of Faith
Founded in 1873, Philippi Church of Christ has a long standing tradition of supporting the spiritual growth of families in our community of Creswell, NC. For nearly 150 years, our central message has been simple: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We require no other creed than this one. He alone is Lord and Savior. From this profound truth, we derive the basis of our faith.
Here at Philippi, we do church differently. Our Church, and others like us, have grown out of a movement of people from diverse backgrounds who desire to be Christians only, without the complication of denomination. For our doctrine, we look to the Bible, which we recognize as the true Word of God. The church described in the New Testament provides us a blueprint for how our church should operate. We try to imitate that precedent as much as possible. This is why our baptism is by immersion, our Communion is every Lord's Day, our leaders are called elders, our preaching is about Christ, and our prayers are in Christ's name.
We are a church seeking unity, and like thousands of others down through history, members of our church seek to be one in Christ with all others whom He calls His own. We believe "in essentials unity, in opinions liberty, in all things love". It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, there is a place for you here at Philippi Church of Christ. We are excited about our Lord and our service for Him, and we want to share our excitement with you.
